Higher Education

The Higher Education Initiative of First 5 Alameda County provides a variety of professional development and educational opportunities for Early Care and Education professionals throughout the community.

Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS):

The Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS) is an online learning program which focusing on interactions within the early childhood classroom. Upon completion of the CLASS program, students may be eligible for a stipend.

 

My Teaching Partner (MTP):

My Teaching Partner is a coaching program for Early Care and Education providers coordinated jointly by First 5 California, First 5 Alameda County and the Alameda County Local Child Care Planning Council. Participants receive individualized professional development through one-on-one consultation with a coach utilizing the CLASS framework.

 

Community College Cohorts and Professional Development Support:

Early Childhood Education students at several local community colleges receive professional and educational support and may be eligible to participate in a cohort program. Cohort participants receive one-on-one and group support in reaching their educational and professional goals. Some participants also have access to the CLASS program. Upon completion of the cohort program, participants receive a stipend to support their educational advancement.
